2 environmental problems solved with one clever solution

A new company called Ark Flood Defences has engineered an ingenious solution to two of the countries big environmental problems.

Using scrap tyres to protect us from the nightmare of flooding.

Although it hasn’t made the news as much as flooding, every month 750 thousand tyres per month go into storage, and are extremely difficult to dispose of in an environmentally sound way – until now.

Using this new system, the tyre’s natural non-biodegradable properties are turned into a benefit. They are treated by Ark, assembled in a unique way then landscaped with grass with minimum disruption and no ecological damage to the surrounding environment.

The tyre engineers at Ark Flood Defences have worked for 2 years with Professor George Baxter and his team from Bradford University and closely with regional and national environment agencies to ensure that the solutions are of real benefit to communities and offer a real sustainable solution.
