Construct welcomes new MD

"Construct Corporation is delighted to welcome Robin Mitchell as its first managing director.

Construct Corporation – created to bring innovative methodologies and products to the construction sector – has appointed its first managing director.

Lean manufacturing specialist Robin Mitchell has taken over the reins at the Coventry-based company bringing with him a wealth of knowledge of reducing delivery costs and driving up quality.

Robin joins the company from the world’s leading 4X4 manufacturer Landrover. 

He now brings his experience of quality improvement techniques and cost reduction methodology developed in the highly competitive automotive sector to help address the construction industry’s need for a leaner approach through continuous improvement and waste reduction.

Robin’s career started as a technical engineering apprentice.  His development path included production management, industrial engineering and new model launch with lean implementation being the common thread.
He said: “What really inspires me is the challenge of continuous improvement.  All processes have waste imbedded in them.  The challenge is using knowledge from a working level to understand where waste is and how to remove it or reduce it.  Often the simplest ideas have the most dramatic impact.

I am excited about the prospect of applying lean methodology to the construction sector. While I’m sure the challenges will be different, I believe that lean principles are common ground."
